So its been a while since I have done any high profile races of such and what better route to start on as Climber’s Gambit, I have recently completed it on the Zwift Academy 2021 Finish Line Ride and got some really good numbers and enjoyed the climb a lot, so what better race to drop into than the same route the next day.
Confident in my climbing abilities I was happy to take a second wheel until the climb, I was not planning on making any attacks until much much later up the climb, but a small group of riders went a bit harder on the steep section just before the suspension bridge and forced me to up the power at this point I was thinking that it would be the beginning of an all out slog to the top only to find that I was soon out front with Lionel Vujasin (CANYON) fighting up the climb.
I was thinking there is no way I could hold this pace a second night in a row, but legs felt good and at one point was able to bring the heart rate down for a few minutes that gave me some extra power to make a small but deciding attack on the climb, allowing me to coast into the finish with a nice safety net.
I’ve been working on testing and riding my bike of choice for anything that is not flat and that is:
Scott Addict RC paired with the DT Swiss ARC 1100 DiCut 62 Wheelset
My new favorite all rounder bike setup. Until next time Ride On..
